Five-day course: embedded Linux development with free software

Author and open source contributor Karim Yaghmour will teach a course in Montreal, Canada Dec. 1-5 on building embedded Linux systems using only open source and free software. Embedded Linux specialist SnapGear snapped up by high-end firewall vendor

One of the world's first embedded Linux companies has just announced that it is being acquired (again). Embedded Linux security device vendor and security-oriented Linux developer SnapGear has agreed to be acquired by CyberGuard Corp. for approximately $16 million. Embedded Linux gains support for latest ATI graphics chipsets

SciTech has agreed to support ATI's mobile, desktop, and embedded visual processors in upcoming releases of its SNAP Graphics “Industrial Embedded Solution” (IES) offering. The deal extends a previous agreement between the two companies that brought support for ATI products to SciTech's SNAP Graphics Enterprise (ENT) line. (more…)

NEWS FLASH: New Zaurus ships Nov. 27 for Japanese market

LinuxDevices.com received a tip by email that Sharp will introduce the next model in its Linux-based Zaurus PDA family to the Japanese market on Nov. 27, 2003. The SL-C860 appears to be a more powerful and feature-rich version of the much-reviewed SL-C760.

Linux devices gain mobile multimedia support

Linux-based phones and other mobile devices will gain support from a major mobile multimedia technology provider in Q1, 2004, when PacketVideo releases embedded Linux versions of its pvPlayer and pvAuthor software.
