Since its launch on March 9, 2000, the ELC has built up a membership roster of over 60 companies.

The new ELC Website currently includes:

“We developed the design and content of this site in less than one month,” said acting Executive Director Murry Shohat. “Our team is already working on a new phase, which will add functions such as event calendars, member marketing opportunities, an on-line catalog of embedded Linux products and services, mailing list activities, industry links, and an array of member promotional aids.”

Three items of note on the site's home page are:

  • The opportunity to become a Charter Member of the ELC ends on May 1, 2000
  • Linux code base developers are invited to apply for a membership fee waiver
  • The ELC logo contest with a deadline of May 31, 2000
About the Embedded Linux Consortium

Responding to the rising tide of interest in Linux for embedded applications, representatives from dozens of technology firms formed the ELC, a vendor-neutral trade association dedicated to advancing the depth, breadth and speed of Linux adoption in the enormous embedded computer market. In its first six weeks of operation, membership hit 60. The ELC offers free membership to developers who demonstrate their participation in the Open Source code base of the Linux operating system.
