Test and measurement boards gain new Linux drivers

May 11, 2007 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 2 views

Strategic Test has updated the Linux drivers it maintains for three test and measurement product lines. The drivers are freely downloadable in binary form for popular 32- and 64-bit distributions, and also available on request in source code format.

Strategic Test claims to be a leading supplier of “high-speed PC-based instruments,” including “more than 150 high-speed digitizer, arbitrary waveform generator, and high-speed digital I/O PCI, 3U PXI, and 6U CompactPCI cards.” Product lines supported by the new Linux drivers include:

  • UltraFast Waveform Digitizer
  • Arbitrary Waveform Generator
  • Digital I/O boards

The new drivers mainly add support for 64-bit distributions. Supported distributions include:

  • Suse 9.0 2.4.21 32-bit
  • Suse 9.1 2.6.4 32-bit
  • Suse 9.3 2.6.11 32-bit
  • Suse 10.0 2.6.13 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Suse 10.1 2.6.16 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Suse 10.2 2.6.18 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Redhat 9.0 2.4.20 32-bit
  • Fedora Core 3 2.6.9 32-bit
  • Fedora Core 4 2.6.11 32-bit
  • Fedora Core 5 2.6.15 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Fedora Core 6 2.6.18 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Debian Sarge 2.4.27 32-bit
  • Debian Sarge 2.6.8 32-bit

Strategic Test said its new drivers are backward-compatible with older drivers, so that applications need not be updated. They are available now as binary downloads in the company's support website, or as source on request, for porting to other Linux distributions or other embedded OSes.
