Connecting middleware to Apache 2.0 [IBM developerWorks]

September 22, 2002

Apache became the most popular Web server in part because of the rich availability of third-party extensions for the server, and because its open architecture made it quite easy to roll your own extensions. Of course, nothing is ever just easy enough, so in developing Apache 2.0, one of the main goals was to improve the Apache API to make it even easier to develop extensions. (more…)

September 20, 2002

ZDNet (UK) interviewed Jason Matusow, program manager of the Shared Source Initiative at Microsoft. Matusow offers insight into why Microsoft decided to open up some of its source code, and explains what is meant by 'Shared Source', who can gain access to it (and how they do that), how much source is available for various Microsoft OSes (including CE .NET), and what additional applications and tools the… (more…)

Article: Introducing YAFFS, the first NAND-specific flash file system

September 20, 2002

Overview

YAFFS stands for 'yet another flash file system' (see footnote 1). As far as I am aware, YAFFS is the only file system, under any operating system, that has been designed specifically for use with NAND flash. YAFFS is thus designed to work within the constraints of, and exploit the features of, NAND flash to maximize performance. (more…)
