GCC, GNU tools being optimized for XScale processors

Embedded BSD specialist Wasabi Systems will collaborate with Intel on an optimized GNU toolchain for Intel XScale technology microprocessors. Wasabi expects the benchmark-driven work to broadly benefit open-source embedded development projects where the GNU tools are the “toolchain of choice,” including projects on Linux, Wasabi Certified NetBSD, and others. ProSyst aims Java GUI, browser at Linux-based devices

ProSyst Software AG has released 3.0 versions of its mGUI Java library for embedded Linux devices and its mBrowser Java-based browser. The improved tools feature extremely small memory footprints and rich multimedia and TV features, according to ProSyst, and are meant for use in mobile phones, handhelds, set-top-boxes, digital TVs, and automotive infotainment systems. TEMs and NEPs using MontaVista Carrier Grade Linux gain IP-routing support

NextHop Technologies will support MontaVista Software's carrier grade Linux operating system with its NextHop GateD IP-routing software. The combination will give telecommunications equipment manufacturers (TEMs) and network equipment providers (NEPs) in multiple market segments a high-end, pre-tested routing solution on a carrier-grade version of Linux, the companies say. SnapGear unveils Embedded Linux for Intel’s gigabit network processors

Embedded Linux security specialist SnapGear Inc. has announced Q4 2003 availability of a Linux distribution for the Intel IXP2400, IXP2800, and IXP2850 second-generation network processors.
