Free real-time Linux distro gains cross-platform GUI framework

[Updated July 23, 2004] — Toshiba today launched a laptop that is widely rumored to offer the choice of booting Windows Media Center Edition 2004, for full PC capabilities, or a quick-starting embedded Linux environment, for instant-on, appliance-like TV tuner, DVD player, CD player, and remote control capabilities.
In Q4, 2004, Lippert will ship a PCI-104 SBC (single-board computer) that it calls “the smallest and fastest Linux computer today in x86 technology.” The “Cool RoadRunner 4” (CRR4) board is based on an Intel Pentium M “Dothan” 755 processor clocked up to 2GHz.
