Jaluna has updated its platform virtualization product, adding features aimed at engineers building media-processing devices. OSware, Linux Edition for TI DSP v1.2 features support for C++ applications, among other new features, and is being used by customers to build IP-STBs and IP-videophones, the company says.

The Newisys NA-1400 is an inexpensive, “toaster-sized,” Linux-based Network Attached Storage (NAS) appliance with up to 2 terabytes of storage. It features a low-power XScale processor running a custom embedded Linux operating system, RAID, and room for four hot-swap drives.
The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has approved Nokia's Linux-powered 770 Internet Tablet, suggesting the much-anticipated device could become available in the US soon. The 770 provides browsing, email, media players, and other basic Web tablet functions, and can connect via 802.11b or Bluetooth to a cellphone.
MiniMo (mini-Mozilla) developer Doug Turner has posted a mini-roadmap outlining four dot-releases culminating on Dec. 22 with MiniMo 0.012. The MiniMo project, rumored to be sponsored by Nokia, aims to build a version of Mozilla for small-display embedded systems with 64MB or more of RAM, running Linux or Windows CE.
