Embedded Linux specialist RidgeRun runs again

[Updated July 14, 2006] — RidgeRun, a stalled start-up focused on Linux development for Texas Instruments (TI) dual-core (RISC/DSP) processors, has re-launched. The new RidgeRun will offer Linux, Windows, and RTEMS BSPs (board support packages), drivers, application development, and software integration services for ARM-based processors from multiple vendors, including TI. eCos bumps pSos from DTVs

Philips will switch some of its reference designs for digital TV set-top boxes (STBs) and bolt-on receivers from pSos+ to eCos, according to eCosCentric. eCosCentric's eCosPro Starter Kit will be distributed as the “de-facto supplied RTOS” for some Nexperia PNX83xx designs, eCosCentric says. DaVinci gains commercial Linux Gstreamer framework

MPEG-4 codec vendor Ateme has ported the open source GStreamer media application framework to the newest Texas Instruments (TI) RISC/DSP chips, and is offering an “audio/video software system” for the platform. Linux flies with real-time Ada apps on Euro UAVs

EADS (European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company) is using virtualization software from Sysgo in a design aimed at reducing avionics system costs in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
