Virtualization targets single-core PIN-entry devices
May 2, 2007Two companies have partnered on a virtualization approach for single-core PEDs (PIN entry devices) that is claimed capable of supporting PCI-PED (payment card industry PED) certification. Running on Innova Card's USIP chip, Trango's single-core Hypervisor architecture is “at least as secure and ready for certification” as multi-chip or multi-core designs, Trango said. (more…)
Hitachi has started shipping a 3.5-inch hard disk drive with a nominal capacity of 1 terabyte (TB). Available now at online retailers for $450, the 7K1000 has five platters spinning at 7,200 rpm, 10 heads, 32MB of buffer cache, and a 3.0Gb/s Serial-ATA (SATA) interface.
A minimalistic Linux distribution that can run OpenGL-based applications without X is now available from New Zealand based hacker Zeljko “Zelko” Aksentijevic. Zelko said his “MyOS Miniature OpenGL development system” shows that Linux development systems can be simple.
