Embedded Linux vendor attains support certification

Wind River today announced that after a rigorous, two-day, on-site audit, its customer service team in North America has attained a prestigious support center certification for the second year. JTAG emulator supports native Linux on DaVinci DM355

Linux to grow 278% in embedded apps?

Linux use in future embedded projects will grow 278 percent over that in past projects, among commercial embedded OS users, suggests a recent study from Venture Development Corp. (VDC). Meanwhile, proprietary commercial embedded OS use is holding steady, gaining customers from do-it-yourself OS users, but losing as many to Linux, the analyst firm reports. (more…)

Palm tables Linux-based Foleo

Sub-$10 processor does HD video, runs Linux

[Updated Sep. 18] — Texas Instruments (TI) is sampling an ultra low-cost, ARM9-based embedded processor with an integrated high-definition (HD) video encoder. The chipmaker launched its sub-$10 TMS320DM355 SoC (system-on-chip), together with a development board running MontaVista Linux, at the IBC video broadcaster's convention in London this week. (more…)
