“Linux is slipping more frequently through the back door of corporations in a box. And companies are seeing Linux pop up in all sorts of devices faster than it is possible to say 'embedded computing.' Embedded developers are leaping for Linux in record numbers, largely because of the free operating system's full set of available features and high capacity for customization. Lineo Inc., Salt Lake City, Utah, plans to play a big part in the emerging market of embedded, real-time, and high availability enterprise Linux functions. Lineo's chief technology officer Tim R. Bird explains why Linux is one of the best options for an embedded operating system and how Lineo intends to play a role in its growing popularity in this question and answer interview.”
