San Jose, CA — (press release excerpt) — Coventive Technologies, one of Asia's leading open source software providers, announced today that it is pursuing its international vision by establishing a new organization to serve North American customers and partners. Coventive's US office will focus on developing and expanding strategic business alliances with North American companies in the areas of open… source product design and development, software distribution and professional services.

Coventive offers a family of customized Linux server and embedded software solutions. Its XLinux products are among Asia's most popular branded Linux solutions for enterprise servers, marketed through strategic partnerships with major manufacturers such as Acer, Compaq, IBM, and HP. The company is also an innovator of embedded Linux software, offering one of the smallest fully functional commercial embedded Linux kernels — at just 143 KB. The powerful Linux functionality delivered in Coventive's micro kernel is uniquely suited to tiny mobile and hand held information devices where engineering specifications are too rigorous for common embedded Linux solutions.

“The U.S. organization is focused on developing and expanding strategic business alliances with a range of North American companies,” said Lily Wu, CFO of Coventive, based in San Jose. “Our top priorities for the region are the areas of open source product design and development, software distribution and professional services.”

Coventive supports 12 of the world's most important business languages concurrently within a single version: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, simplified and traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese. Together these 12 languages cover over 75% of the world's population. Coventive's multi-lingual capabilities are based on the company's unique Giga Character Set (GCS), a unique mathematical encryption algorithm that minimizes market localization requirements and preserves the full flavor, extent and characteristics of each language.

To support its multilingual offerings, Coventive business, engineering, technical support and training facilities in all the major technology centers in Asia including China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia. In addition to its new US organization, Coventive plans to expand operations into other major geographies in the coming months.

Coventive Technologies offers a family of customized Linux-based application and operating system software solutions for business users in the server and embedded markets. The company is a premier Linux provider in Taiwan and one of the largest Linux companies in Asia, with offices in Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung, Beijing, Xi'An, Seoul, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. Coventive has major channel partners throughout Asia, including CSA, Malaysia's largest system integrator; MaxChannel, China's largest modem and networking hardware distributor; and Linux1, Korea's largest enterprise company.
