Automated test solution supports Android

Dec 19, 2011 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 2 views

Bsquare announced a new version of its test automation suite, now with improved intelligent text recognition and language capabilities. TestQuest 10 supports Android, BlackBerry, and Windows CE target devices; integrates into Visual Studio Professional 2010; and runs under 32- and 64-bit Windows 7 environments, the company says.

According to Bsquare, TestQuest 10 is designed to automate intensive, repetitive testing of mobile devices. Avoiding the physical and mental strain that human testers would experience, it also allows testing to begin with desktop prototypes, device emulators and simulators before actual hardware is available, the company adds.

Bsquare says TestQuest 10 now supports Android, BlackBerry, Windows CE, and Windows Mobile devices (though apparently not Windows Phone). It is also said to:

  • integrate into Visual Studio Professional 2010 (running on either 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Windows 7)
  • work with third-party and open source tools (such as Microsoft Test, nUnit and CruiseControl.NET)
  • and support test development using any language that supports the .NET common language runtime (including C#, Visual Basic, IronPython, IronRuby, and others)

TestQuest 10 now provides improved intelligent text recognition (ITR), according to Bsquare. With additional language capabilities, ITR is said to have received a 92 percent increase in processing speed for major European languages, and up to a 40 percent increase in accuracy for Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

According to Bsquare, the TestQuest Device Server component provides test connectivity to multiple, remotely located devices. The Test Runner component, meanwhile, can run tests 24/7 and is easily configured and shared by multiple test teams, the company adds.

Bsquare says TestQuest 10 is suitable for the following test applications:

  • functional testing
  • regression testing
  • build verification testing
  • UI conformance testing
  • internationalization testing
  • stress and performance testing
  • compatibility testing
  • interoperability testing
  • system testing
  • multiple system under test
  • end user experience testing
  • drive testing
  • certification testing

John Traynor, vice president of products for Bsquare, stated, "TestQuest 10 provides customers with a test automation solution that is the best of both worlds, combining the flexible, extensible test creation of TestQuest Pro and the distributed, scalable test execution of TestQuest CountDown. In addition, we did extensive product research and added many of our customers' top requests."

Pricing was not released, but additional information about TestQuest is available on the company's website.
