Lincoln, MA — (press release excerpt) — Sleepycat Software, Inc. today announced the availability of Berkeley DB version 3.3 for immediate download from the company's website. Version 3.3 adds key features for high availability (HA), significant performance enhancements, and support for the Lineo Embedix embedded Linux operating system. Berkeley DB runs on all major UNIX and Linux systems, VxWorks, QNX, and Windows 95/98/NT/2000.

Berkeley DB requires no separate database server or administration once embedded in the application. It provides concurrency, transactions, disaster recovery, hot backup, and other critical services.
