IBM has developed a new Linux-powered storage controller capable of managing two petabytes of data, according to an article at ZDNet UK. The device, called the TotalStorage SAN Volume Controller (SVC), reportedly runs an embedded Linux operating system called Little Blue, which IBM derived from SuSE Linux. The unit was unveiled at IBM's UK research lab earlier this week, and is said to be headed for production later this year.
