Board vendor seeds service team with acquisition

Embedded Planet says its acquisition of MCC Systems will help it meet growing demand for professional services, including those related to embedded Linux.
Embedded Planet was founded in 1997, and specializes in designing and integrating small form-factor, low-cost modules and systems based on Freescale PowerQUICC and AMCC PowerPC processors. Its intellectual property includes firmware utilities for burning flash, booting target OSes, and configuring and diagnosing hardware, it says.
MCC Systems is based in New Hampshire. Its key employees have over 35 years of combined experience in embedded system software development, along with 20 years of classrom training experience, it says.
MCC's CEO, Mike McCullough, will serve as director of Embedded Planet's newly formed professional services group.
Embedded Planet CEO Mark Lowdermilk stated, “With the increasing complexity of embedded systems software and the rapid adoption of Linux in the embedded systems community, our customers have been asking us to provide a broader set of system solutions and capabilities.”
