Networking appliance boasts optional security coprocessor

Win Enterprises has announced a 1U rackmount networking appliance with a redundant power supply and an optional cryptographic coprocessor. The Linux-compatible PL-80090 can accommodate 11 gigabit Ethernet ports and two 3.5-inch SATA drives, and supports Intel Core 2 processors with a 1333MHz FSB, says the company. (more…)

File viewing app goes Android

The Linux Foundation (LF) announced that it will help companies excise the Microsoft FAT filesystem from their systems to avoid the fate of TomTom, which recently settled with Microsoft over alleged patent infringements over FAT. Kontron announces Core 2 triplets

Kontron has announced three embedded motherboards equipped with dual- and quad-core Intel Core 2 processors in the Mini-ITX, Flex-ATX, and ATX form factors. DIY embedded Linux service gets Qt, drops prices

Timesys announced updates to its LinuxLink embedded Linux development subscription service, including Qt 4.5 support and a “recession special” that is said to cut the price of a one-year subscription by more than half. Intel lets go of Moblin

Intel has handed over control of its Linux-based, Moblin mobile device stack to the nonprofit Linux Foundation (LF).
