DSO message not getting through, survey finds

Forty-one percent of embedded developers surveyed have heard of “DSO,” but only 12 percent say they know what it is, according to Venture Development Corp. (VDC), whose latest study assesses DSO acceptance in light of “significant time and resources” spent by vendors to define and execute their DSO strategies. (more…)

Debug toolmaker offers i.MX21 Linux dev kit

FSMLabs has updated its real-time Linux overlay and toolsuite, adding real-time networking improvements, A/D drivers, an Eclipse-based IDE, and support for 2.6.16 kernels on x86, among other improvements. The RTLinuxPro Development Kit 2.2.3 targets hardware-in-loop (HIL) simulation, telecom and network equipment, enterprise/factory real-time, and mobile devices, according to the company. (more…)

Linux in-memory database goes 64-bit

McObject has released a 64-bit version of its ExtremeDB 3.0 IMDS (in-memory database system). ExtremeDB-64 supports much larger databases, offers “instantaneous sorting, retrieval, and manipulation of massive databases,” and targets engineering, science, computer simulation, finance, game production applications, the company says. NEC and Panasonic form mobile phone development joint venture
