ARM has released a new processor core aimed at mobile phones, hard-drives, printers, automotive designs, and other deeply embedded, highly “real-time” applications. Telecom middleware start-up Clovis Systems has changed its name to OpenClovis, and released its entire middleware stack, tools, and test suite under the GPL. The company hopes the move will help its products reach new markets, including military, aerospace, medical, industrial, telematics, and telemetry, and reduce its R&D costs. (more…)

A project to create a free (LGPL), small-footprint client/server SSL library supporting TLS (transport layer security) has achieved its initial release. The axTLS library includes a CGI-enabled web server, test tools, and language binding for C#, VB.Net, Java, and Perl.
