Socket Communications, Inc. (Fremont, CA) has announced a miniature device that will make it easy for developers to add Bluetooth wireless connectivity to intelligent mobile devices and embedded systems. Ed Sutter has worked with embedded systems for about 15 years, and over the last few years has written code to boot dozens of differing hardware platforms. Those platforms ultimately hosted VxWorks, Nucleus, pSOS, uC/OS, and other embedded operating systems. Rubis Technologies has announced the initial release of SRLinux, which the company claims represents the first embeddable real-time Linux kit for MIPS processors. Cradle Technologies has selected Red Hat to create a comprehensive suite of software support for Cradle's new “universal microsystems” (UMS) processor chips.
