RTAI 24.1.0 adds PPC and Linux kernel 2.4 real-time support

Lindon, UT — (press release) — The Real Time Application Interface (RTAI) development team led by Paolo Mantegazza of Dipartimento di Ingegneria Aerospaziale Politecnico di Milano (DIAPM) has announced the beta release of RTAI version 24.1.0. Linux driver supports USB-to-Ethernet controllers

[updated: July 18, 2000] Scyld Computing has released a GPL Linux driver for the CATC NetMate USB-to-Ethernet Link. The NetMate connects systems to Ethernet LANs via a USB port. The Scyld driver adds plug-and-play USB support to systems incorporating the Linux 2.2 kernel, and supports several chip-level USB-to-Ethernet controllers (including one made by CATC). (more…)

PC-Doctor adds diagnostics for Linux-based systems

PC-Doctor, Inc. has announced PC-Doctor for Linux, a diagnostic software package that checks system configuration and performs over 350 tests for quick resolution of hardware problems. Korean Embedded Linux firm attracts $6M investment

Palm Palm Technology, a Korean-based Embedded Linux solution developer, has announced receipt of an investment totaling $6M from local venture funds. The company has recently developed “Tynux,” an Embedded Linux distribution targeting the requirements of the mobile device market including wireless Internet access terminals and cellular phones. RTAI releases real-time Linux add-on for kernel 2.4.xx

A preliminary version of the RTAI real-time extension for Linux is now available for testing with Linux kernel 2.4.xx. Paolo Mantegazza, RTAI project leader, says the new release “is a relatively advanced porting of RTAI to the approaching Linux [kernel] 2.4.xx, both for [Intel-x86] and PowerPC architectures”. Axis to proactively develop Bluetooth standards
