Celeron-based ETX SBC runs embedded Linux

The new ETX-P3T SBC is based on an Intel Celeron processor supported by the Intel i815E chipset, and targets systems and devices using embedded Linux and other OSes.
Measuring 3.74 x 4.5 inches, ETX modules plug into application-specific baseboards like macrocomponents, Kontron says. The modules in Kontron's ETX family typically supply core embedded-PC CPU and memory subsystems together with sound, SXGA, Ethernet, and standard PC I/O, and they connect to the rest of the embedded system through high-density, low profile, surface-mount connectors which carry both ISA and PCI bus signals as well as dedicated I/O interfaces.
According to Kontron, the reduced CPU voltage and “speed-step” support provided by the Celeron processor on the ETX-P3T result in the “highest performance achievable” on ETX, at “reasonable” power consumption. Improved power management is achieved using both ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) and APM 1.2 (Advanced Power Management) allowing for fanless-cooling and extended battery life, Kontron notes.
The ETX-P3T is available with three different Celeron processors, clocked at 400MHz, 733MHz, and 1GHz. The SBC's Intel 82815 chipset provides an integrated BGA544 Graphics Core, two IDE ports with support for ATA 33, two serial ports, one combined floppy/parallel port, four USB 2.0 ports, support for up to 512MB SDRAM, 10/100Mbit Base-T ethernet, AC97 compatible audio, optional support for DVO (instead of LVDS), LVDS up to SXGA (1280×1024), keyboard/mouse controllers, real-time clock, and watchdog timer.
