Michael P. Deignan of CNET Reviews recently road-tested Metrowerks' CodeWarrior for Linux, Professional Edition 6.0. Deignan writes . . .

“Metrowerks' CodeWarrior for Linux is a graphical integrated development environment (IDE) for Linux systems. Using CodeWarrior, an application developer can code C, C++, and JAVA applications under Linux in a development environment similar to that of Microsoft Visual Studio. For application developers accustomed to working under Microsoft Windows, making the transition to a Linux development environment can be daunting, as Microsoft's IDE shields developers from many complex tasks (such as makefile creation and gcc compiling under Linux). CodeWarrior helps make the transition to Linux virtually seamless.”

“CodeWarrior includes support for the usual roster of GNU development tools included with Linux, so no special development tools are required. Furthermore, the product includes a full set of rapid application development (RAD) tools for prototyping and delivering Java applications and it features an open architecture that supports third-party plug-ins, so CodeWarrior's functionality can grow as your development needs evolve . . .”
