San Francisco; Embedded Systems Conference — (press release excerpt) — Lineo Inc. and Metrowerks today announced the shipment of the CodeWarrior for Embedix Development System for the PowerQUICC II MPC8260. The collaborative effort between Lineo and Metrowerks provides developers with a popular embedded Linux software development kit (Embedix) and IDE (CodeWarrior) combined with the Motorola MPC8260… development board. The system provides developers with a ready-to-run solution to speed time-to-market for embedded devices that incorporate the MPC8260. The combo is being demonstrated this week at the Embedded Systems Conference.

The PowerQUICC II MPC8260 is a popular development board that is commonly used in devices for Internet infrastructure, telecommunications and networking markets. Lineo and Metrowerks also have work under way to provide nearly a dozen other such development systems for other Motorola development boards. The development systems provide developers with an advantage because they come pre-configured with such things as pre-flashed memory so less time is spent on assembling the development environment and more time can be used on creating applications.
