DaVinci processors gain Linux SDIO stack

SDIOWorx is now available on royalty-free terms for TI's daVinci DM6446 processor, which targets portable media players, video surveillance… cameras, and digital photo frames, according to EmbWise.
The TI DM6446 was the first to ship from TI's daVinci line of SoCs, launched with great fanfare in 2005, around the promise of a hearty third-party software ecosystem. The chip integrates a little-endian ARM926EJ-S core clocked at 297MHz, together with a TI C64x+ DSP core clocked at 594 MHz.
EmbWise said its SDIOWorx package for the DM6446 includes:
- SD/SDIO/MMC host controller driver
- SDIO bus driver
- SD/SDIO stack
- SD, MMC, MMC4.x, and SDHC (high capacity) memory drivers
- SDIO-Bluetooth (Type-A) driver
- Three SDIO-WiFi drivers with WPA/WPA2 supplicant support
- Socket Mobile;s Go Wi-Fi! P300 SDIO-WLAN card/modules
- Atheros' AR6001 chipset (provided under GPL license)
- A driver for “another leading WLAN chipset vendor in North America”
An unnamed EmbWise spokesperson said, “EmbWise is the only vendor in the world to offer SD/SDHC/MMC4.x/ SDIO driver software solutions with support for three different WiFi technologies on a variety of host processors.”
Availability
SDIOWorx is available now for TI's DM6446, with a one-time development fee free of attached royalties. Other SoCs supported by the stack include the TI OMAP24x0, Freescale iMX21, Samsung S3C2440/2410, Marvell PXA270, and Raza (RMI) Alchemy AU1200.
