Golden, CO — (press release excerpt) — CorAccess has released two new home appliances based on Linux. The Companion 10 and Companion 6 LCD Home Management panels are based on CorAccess's Utonium development framework. Utonium is a plug-in architecture for embedded systems using Linux and MacroMedia Flash for the GUI.

The new Companion 10 and Companion 6 products with CorAccess's AutoMate and PhotoMate applications save installers valuable setup time and provide homeowners an engaging interface to home management. By leveraging the home network, CorAccess makes it easier to get an entire whole-home system up and running, ultimately passing along savings to homeowners.

“It used to be that installers had to spend hours programming a home-control interface to communicate with the overall system controls. Thanks to Companion AutoMate, installers have the entire system programmed and ready to use in a few minutes” said Craig Slawson, president of CorAccess Systems. “With the Companion products connected to the HAI Omni or OnQ HMS control panels, a homeowner can have a complete home-control system installed for a fraction of the cost of other systems,” according to Slawson.

Once the installer programs the HAI Omni or the HMS, the installer only needs to input basic information into the master Companion product before it receives all the operational information it needs directly from the Omni or OnQ control panels. After the master is installed, all additional Companions require just a simple Ethernet connection.

The Companion products are full-color home management interfaces with the power to run Macromedia Flash graphics and CorAccess applications and services. They are designed to be conveniently mounted in key locations throughout a home, and connect with all of the HAI Omni and the OnQ HMS control products. The CorAccess Companions offer homeowners camera monitoring, so they can check the front door, the kids playroom, and even traffic and
weather. With the Companion products, homeowners have one-touch access to lighting, appliances, thermostat and security control, as well as a digital photo frame and the platform for future applications, such as intercom, Internet radio, and whole-home audio control.
