Embedded Linux RTOS, database vendors partner on dev kit
Mar 5, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 viewsIn-memory database vendor McObject and embedded Linux OS and tools provider Sysgo have partnered on a development package targeting data-intensive industrial applications. The package includes McObject's eXtremeDB database for x86, reference applications, and Sysgo's ELinOS Basic Toolbox.
The package is based on Sysgo's ELinOS distribution, which the company claims reduces resource requirements for Linux while extending real-time capabilities. The package also includes Sysgo's ELK graphical configuration environment, with ready-made boot loaders and cross development environments for all current CPUs.
Also included is McObject's eXtremeDB, an XML-enabled in-memory database optimized for embedded systems, with a footprint of 100K or less. McObject claims eXtremeDB spares RAM and CPU resources while delivering critical data management features with “real-time responsiveness.” Database development tools from McObject that support varied data and query types are also included, along with a debugging environment with a self-diagnostic API the company claims catches a wide range of common programming errors.
The package is priced at 929 Euro (currently $1,175), including eXtremeDB evaluation software offering “additional advanced features.”
