This month's Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) in Boston drew 14 percent more attendees than last year's, reports Venture Development Corp. (VDC). In a full summary report on the annual event, the market research firm lists the major announcements, interesting exhibits, and of course, the best giveaways.

Each year, VDC publishes detailed reports on the annual ESC East and West tradeshows in its Embedded Systems Industry Bulletin, published as part of the company's “Embedded Software Strategic Market Intelligence Program.” As usual, the market research firm has generously agreed to share the complete, in-depth report with LinuxDevices readers.

Report highlights include VDC's coveted “Embeddies” awards, followed by an extensive “Walking the Floor” section acknowledging notable and interesting exhibits. Of these, especially Linux-related exhibits reportedly included:

• Fresh from acquiring Intel's modular communications platforms, RadiSys demonstrated its own OS-9 RTOS running alongside Linux on VirtualLogix's VLX virtualization platform running on COM Express and Mini-ITX boards powered by Intel core Duo processors.
• Aonix demonstrated its PERC real-time Java VM on Freescale's i.MX31 running MontaVista Mobilinux — a similar set-up to Aonix's recent in-flight entertainment design win
• McObject demonstrated its eXtremeDB's “tested compatibility” with MontaVista Linux Carrier Grade Edition 4.0, as first announced back in June
