Article: Firstlinux.com: “I’ve installed Linux: What Next?”

May 3, 2000 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

Steve Emms of FirstLinux writes . . .

“FirstLinux has a created series of online articles entitled: 'I've installed Linux: What Next?' The goal is to assist Linux newcomers with getting up to speed quickly on learning what they can do with Linux. After solving initial installation problems, the most common questions we get asked at FirstLinux are along the lines of 'What Next?' Now, we've… written a number of articles split into application areas which address just this question. The result is a compilation of 'hands on' introductory information that can be useful to anyone new to Linux — including engineers and programmers who have not had previous Linux experience.”

“Each of the articles indicates areas where you can make the most of Linux. Some of the material may be a little technical and some Linux applications a little rough around the edges — but overall we think you'll agree that there's a lot that can be achieved both in the home and in business. In each article we've tried to indicate what's available for free and what's available in the commercial sector. There's also a short glossary of technical terms included at the end.”
