Force announces 12U ‘Ultra Availability’ system based on Linux

As the second in a new line of fully integrated hardware-software solutions, the EndurX C21K UA system offers an advanced SNMP remote management… interface, High Availability (HA) middleware, and software upgradeability in an application-ready platform. As a whole solution for up to 99.999-percent continuous service availability at the system level, EndurX enables what is popularly known as “five nines” capability.
Coming on the heels of the ETSI-compliant, 9U form-factor/255mm-wide EndurX C25K UA system, the 12U EndurX C21K UA system is similarly preconfigured with dual redundant Pentium III or Pentium 4 processor-based server blades running the Linux operating system and HA middleware. Designed to NEBS Level 3, this PICMG 2.16 cPSB system has 21 slots, of which 19 slots can support network node expansion with more server blades, real-time computing boards, peripheral I/O boards or network processor or DSP boards. Other EndurX C21K UA features include: resource manager for automated fault detection and recovery; application services to support cluster management; Fast Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet switches; IPMI-based platform management (PICMG 2.9); fully redundant, hot-swappable hardware; 2+1 redundant power supply units (500W); optional HA storage (e.g. Fibre Channel based) for persistent disk storage.
