WAP forum, an international forum on Wireless Technologies, announced WAP 2.0 specifications in August this year. Through this announcement, Jataayu
achieves the distinction of being the first company in the world to have WAP 2.0 based systems.
“WAP 2.0 is a significant improvement over its predecessor of WAP 1.2 and is expected to firmly establish the mobile Internet industry created by the WAP 1.x specification,” says Mahesh Jain, CEO of Jataayu Software. “WAP 2 standard heralds the use of multimedia content over mobile networks, direct access to http sites and complete end-to-end security among others.”
According to a company spokesperson, “Jataayu Software's Gateways support the Linux platform and most of our installations on Version 2.0 of our software are on Linux. The release of Version 3.0 will support Linux. The desktop version of our Browser ships on Linux. Support for embedded Linux is part of roadmap for us.”
