Glasgow, Scotland — (press release excerpt) — Picsel Technologies announced Tuesday that it is porting the Picsel ePAGE Graphic Document Engine to the Intel StrongARM SA-1110 applications processor and the Intel XScale microarchitecture. ePAGE allows users to view and manipulate any type of file or media object on consumer electronics devices such as smart phones, PDA's, games consoles, set-top boxes… and in-car systems — without the source application being resident or the content re-engineered to fit the display constraints of the device.

ePAGE has a low memory footprint and provides the ability to natively view and manipulate Adobe PDF, ebook, HTML, Macromedia Flash, JPEG, Microsoft Word and Power Point, Postscript, plain text, TIFF-IT and email attachments at resolutions ranging from 40×30 through 1600×1200. Users of ePAGE enabled devices will enjoy a consistent interface which can view and easily manipulate multiple file formats and object types from anywhere on the Internet.

Already available as a demonstration on Intel StrongARM SA-1110 applications processor based devices, ePAGE will be available to customers in Q4 2001 and will be validated under Linux, as well as under Microsoft WindowsCE and PocketPC, Symbian OS, and Palm OS.
