Paris, France — (press release excerpt) — MontaVista Software is sponsoring four half-day seminars for embedded software developers in Europe. The seminars, entitled “Moving from a Proprietary RTOS to Embedded Linux,” will be held in Munich, Germany, on Tuesday, October 9; in Paris, France, on Wednesday, October 10; in London, UK, on Thursday, October 11; and in Eindhoven, Netherlands, on Friday,… October 12.

According to market research firm, Venture Development Corporation, the worldwide market for embedded software solutions will reach $1.8 billion by 2003. VDC also predicts the number of embedded developers adopting Linux as their host environment of choice will triple within two years.

The “Moving from a Proprietary RTOS to Embedded Linux” seminars will include a discussion on trends in the embedded market, followed by open source and intellectual property issues and an in depth insight into the technical challenges in moving from a proprietary RTOS to embedded Linux. They will feature demonstrations of embedded systems that have already been developed by MontaVista and its partners using MontaVista's Hard Hat Linux development environment.
