Hardware-assisted debug tools support more processors

When used with Macraigor's “OCDemon” hardware, the tools now supports Luminary Micro SoCs based on ARM Cortex-M3 cores, Freescale MPC83xx PowerQUICC II, AMD Geode GX/LX, and Marvel… PXA3xx (Monahans).

Macraigor said its hardware-assisted debugging tools come with GNU tools and pre-built example projects. Most support Linux- and Windows-based development hosts. The tools are said to include:
- OCD Commander — offers a graphical user interface that lets users run, halt, or reset the CPU, and manipulate its associated registers and memories
- JTAG Commander — a graphical tool for low-level control of JTAG-enabled targets
- JSCAN — a graphical hardware test tool said to detect opens, shorts, and other problems under BGA devices and elsewhere; also programs FPGAs and EEPROMS for gate arrays
- OCD Remote — for debugging with Eclipse/GNU tools GDB
- OCDemon Flash Programmer — a graphical application programming the contents of flash connected to the target CPU
Availability
The OCDemon family of debug tools is now available for the ARM, AMD, Marvell, and PowerPC processors noted above. The OCDemon Flash Programmer, Flash Access, and Target Access tools cost $500 apiece, with $100 for incremental licenses. JSCAN costs $1,900, and JTAG Commander is $400. The OCD Commander (an assembly-level software debugger), OCD Remote, and Eclipse, and GNU tool suites are available at no charge from the Macraigor website.
