Hitachi SH embedded processor support added to GNU X-Tools
Mar 31, 2003 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 2 viewsMicrocross announced the addition of support for all current Hitachi SH embedded processor variants — including SH1, SH2, SH3, SH3e, and SH4 — to the latest version of its GNU X-Tools XScale Toolsuite (v3.0).
The GNU X-Tools toolsuite, which runs on Windows (via Cygwin) and Linux hosts, is based on GNU GCC v3.2 and “is derived from the standard distribution of GNU tools, which supports more hosts and target processors than any embedded development toolsuite in existence,” the company said.
This version of the Microcross toolsuite boasts improved compiler and debugger performance and library support. Additionally, thanks to the merging of XScale and ARM Thumb support into a single product, developers need only purchase a single product — unlike the situation with GCC v2.95.2, the company said.
Microcross sells its GNU-based “complete tool solutions” for around $500 (USD).
