IDE expected to simplify hard real-time Linux coding
Mar 23, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — 1 viewsFSMLabs says it is integrating the multi-language Visual SlickEdit development workbench into its RTLinux Pro Developer Kit 2.0, with SlickEdit becoming the Kit's default IDE (integrated development environment). FSMLabs expects Visual SlickEdit's project support, code navigation, code completion, and remote debugging support to simplify hard real-time Linux programming.
FSMLabs claimed last October that the release of RTLinux 2.0 and the RTLinux Pro Development Kit 2.0 brought major ease of use improvements. It now hopes a “solid, fast, commercially supported and tested” IDE will make hard real-time Linux programming even easier.
According to FSMLabs, RTLinux Development Kit 2.0, powered by Visual SlickEdit, enables embedded developers to program, debug, and modify hard real-time software applications. The Kit includes compilers, tools, and a debugger, and provides code editing and build capabilities for the FSMLabs development tool chain. It also provides a base for remote and local debugging, including software and JTAG debug, according to FSMLabs.
Hard real-time operating systems from FSMLabs include its RTCore real-time core running a “ruggedized” Linux or BSD kernel as the idle task.
