IDE for networking devices gains Linux support

Aug 16, 2004 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — views

Fabless chip house NetLogic Microsystems has added support for embedded Linux to the IDE (integrated development environment) it delivers with its network coprocessors designed for use with Intel's IXP2400 and IXP28xx network processors. The NetLogic IDE includes both hardware and software development kits, and targets networking equipment.

According to NetLogic, the IDE lets developers test and evaluate integral system interoperability and develop application software in both pre- and post-hardware environments.

NetLogic's NL5xxxGLQ series coprocessors provide a glueless connection to Intel's network processors. Intel launched its IXP2400 and IXP28xx line in February, 2002.

Intel VP Doug Davis said, “NetLogic Microsystems's Linux IDE helps developers using our Intel IXP2XXX network processors to build robust communications platforms with this popular operating environment.”

NetLogic VP Martyn Humphries said, “Our improved IDE allows designers to develop and verify our latest generation NL5000GLQ knowledge-based processors on a variety of operating systems for use with Intel's network processors.”
