York, U.K. — (press release excerpt) — Vita Nuova today announced support for its Inferno embedded OS on Texas Instruments OMAPT processor platforms.

“Inferno is an ideal choice for developing embedded, distributed applications on the OMAPT platform which is aimed at 2.5G and 3G mobile phones, wireless PDAs and mobile Internet devices,” said Vita Nuova CEO Michael Jeffrey. “OMAP's combination of DSP and ARM enables Inferno to off-load energy expensive computations to the DSP where they can be dealt with more efficiently. As well as being frugal in its use of resources, Inferno provides the infrastructure for creating portable, distributed applications across OMAP and many other platforms.”
