Java-on-PDAs application contest is announced
Jul 23, 2002 — by LinuxDevices Staff — from the LinuxDevices Archive — viewsInsignia has teamed up with partners, HP, Intel, Metrowerks, Sharp (creators of the 'Zaurus' Linux-based PDA), Softbank Publishing and Sun Microsystems to find the best Java technology-based applications for Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). The JPDA 2002 Application Developers Contest is a global competition to promote the creation and public availability of Java applets and applications designed for… use in high-performance PDAs.
A skilled application developer can win a grand prize of $10,000 (USD) and other finalists will share a variety of valuable prizes including laptop computers, PDAs, and consumer electronics equipment. Application developers may also have the opportunity to work with the contest sponsors to further promote the winning applications to additional customers and channels.
Winning applications will be based on the following categories:
- Games
- Entertainment/Educational/Multimedia
- Office/Business Enterprise productivity
- Communication/Internet
- Utilities/System tools
Judging criteria will be based on functionality, ease of use, performance/efficiency and originality.
