Mexico City — (press release excerpt) — Certus Corporation announced a new interactive set-top cable platform for deployment in Mexico and Latin America. The device is based on National Semiconductor's Geode system-on-chip processor, Embedded Linux, and broadband media streaming software from EnReach. Certus will market the platform to broadband service providers in Mexico and Central and Latin America, allowing the service providers to offer advanced interactive services such as video-on-demand, time-shifted television, Web browsing, and email on a single low-cost integrated device. The platform is being demonstrated at Comdex Mexico 2001 tradeshow in Mexico City, Mexico, May 15-18 in Certus' booth #1331.
