Lineo has announced opensource.lineo.com, a website dedicated to open source projects funded or maintained by Lineo and its employees. The site provides open source developers and community members with convenient access to high quality open source software designed for embedded Linux systems by concentrating the open source projects of… Lineo and the companies recently merged with Lineo on a single web location.

Bryan Sparks, Lineo CEO, said “Lineo actively supports the open source community. We work very hard to support and fund projects that are a benefit to the community at large and not just to increase the bottom line of Lineo. We will continue this pattern of giving back to the open source community.”

Open source projects which Lineo supports, contributes to, or maintains include:

uClinux — this microcontroller project is a port of the Linux 2.0 kernel to systems without a memory management unit. uClinux is currently running many commercial applications such as the NETtel VPN routers and the Aplio/Phone.
RTAI — One of the two most commonly used implementations of real-time Linux, RTAI includes a number of important features including both hard and soft real-time support.
BusyBox — known as the “Swiss Army Knife of Embedded Linux,” this powerful tool combines tiny versions of many common UNIX utilities into one compact executable.
PoPToP — a Microsoft-compatible Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution for Linux, which allows Linux to function seamlessly in a Microsoft PPTP VPN environment.

All of the projects listed on the site are either maintained by Lineo employees, or have Lineo employees as significant core project developers.
