Linux dev kit includes Ethernet debugger

Embedded Toolsmith's software-only Agile-DB Debugger comes standard with the AMCC 440EP kit, while its hardware-assisted JTAG debugger Guardian-SE is available as an upgrade.

AMCC launched its PowerPC 440EP Linux development kit yesterday, around a 5 x 7 inch “Yosemite” development board designed by Embedded Planet. The kit includes a wealth of sample applications and tools, and evaluation versions of Linux development suites from LynuxWorks and Denx.
Embedded Toolsmith added support for PowerPC 4xx-series processors to its debuggers in March of 2005. Touted benefits include:
- Crash-proof debug of kernel and application space under Linux
- High speed downloads, FLASH programming and single-stepping, when used with JTAG debugger
- Easy-to-use
- Data Book view of on-chip registers
- GUI lets users arrange data on screen
- Turnkey flash libraries for popular devices
