Lithuanian WiFi stack vendor Wilibox has signed up North American VAR (value-added reseller) Deliberant to market and support its products in the U.S. and Canada. Wilibox products include a Linux distribution for access points (APs) and gateways, and add-ons for centralized AP management and “mesh” networking.

Wilibox first shipped WiLi, its Linux distribution for APs and gateways, about a year ago. The stack includes a Linux kernel, drivers, and a variety of configuration utilities and applications. It also includes an SDK (software development kit) and build environment.

WiLi architecture

WiLi supports half-a-dozen popular router/AP architectures, with BSPs available for 20 specific router/AP platforms and developments systems. It targets WISPs (wireless Internet service providers), telecom operators, and device manufacturers.

Additional Wilibox products available through Deliberant include:

  • RCMS (Remote Configuration Management System) — described as a “centralized monitoring and management solution for wireless network equipment based on WiLi”
  • WILI MESH — described as adding “the self-forming and self-healing characteristics of mesh networks” to Wili-based devices.

Wilibox CEO Jonas Sabaliauskas stated, “Recognizing the growing demand by WISPs for more economical mesh network and wireless solutions, Deliberant moved quickly to obtain distribution rights for Wilibox software.”

Hal Bledsoe, president of Deliberant, stated, “Wilibox products are field-proven to allow the construction of very advanced and robust wireless networks.”

Availability

The Wili stack and associated add-ons are available now, in the U.S. and Canada, through Deliberant, a global manufacturer and distributor of wireless networking products based in Atlanta, Georgia.
