LynuxWorks has promoted its VP of engineering to COO, and hired a new VP of sales. Gurjot Singh will take over day-to-day operations after fourteen years with the embedded software vendor, while embedded veteran Mark Baker joins LynuxWorks to lead its sales team.

According to LynuxWorks, Gurjot Singh (pictured) founded the company's services organization, which currently accounts for half its revenues. Singh is also credited with helping to establish the quality management system that helped the company achieve ISO 9001 and DO-178B compliance.

LynuxWorks says Singh will continue to be involved with post-sales support, including training, consulting, manufacturing, and quality assurance.

Mark Baker

Mark Baker comes to LynuxWorks from Wasabi Systems, where he served as VP of worldwide sales. He previously served as VP of strategic accounts for Wind River, in charge of the company's 34 largest accounts. Additionally, he led a 275-member worldwide sales organization with revenues over $750 million while serving as VP of worldwide sales for Motorola Computer Group.

LynuxWorks announced last month that it expects to double revenues and increase staffing 30 percent this year, thanks to the selection of its Linux-compatible LynxOS-178 RTOS by the US Army's Future Combat Systems program's Integrated Computer System.
