LynuxWorks unveils BlueCat Linux 4.0

LynuxWorks has released version 4.0 of their BlueCat Linux distribution and toolkit. The new version is based on the Linux 2.4.x kernel and toolchain, and will initially support several of Intel's embedded processors, including: the Xscale microarchitecture (available now), the IXP1200 Network Processor (available… Dec. 2001), and the so-called “IA32” architecture (Pentium family; available by Jan. 2002), according to company sources.

LynuxWorks' BlueCat is an open-source Linux distribution which is available as a complete solution for developers without run-time royalties. A non-commercial version of the operating system is available at no charge or with documentation for $299. Professional developer commercial license bundles range between $2699 and $5999, depending on included tools, options, and support.
