BlueCat Linux is part of the LynuxWorks suite that allows embedded systems development of both BlueCat Linux and the LynxOS real-time operating system with a common compatible tool… set. BlueCat is covered by Lynx' advanced customer support capability, designed specifically to meet the needs of embedded development and deployment.
The BlueCat OS is the only open-source Linux, for development and deployment of embedded products, that is certified for quality and reliability. The LynuxWorks suite is developed and manufactured using Lynx' ISO 9001 quality processes. Through LynuxWorks, BlueCat applications can be integrated with LynxOS applications to provide a choice of real-time performance and reliability matching the schedule, market and features for embedded development. BlueCat is a tested and stabilized Linux version based on Red Hat 6.1, binary compatible with Linux applications, with system and development tools and drivers to allow rapid, efficient embedded deployment. Lynx provides cross development support for BlueCat to a variety of popular embedded processors and includes an advanced test methodology to ensure quality and reliability.
“BlueCat and its development environment, LynuxWorks, has established Lynx as a key player in the embedded Linux market,” said Rick Lehrbaum of LinuxDevices.com, the embedded Linux portal. “By taking the bold strategy of 'competing' against themselves in delivering BlueCat Linux, Lynx has provided a viable Linux business model which leverages their conderable expertise, infrastructure, and field resources. Our recent surveys indicate that two-thirds of Linux based system developers are interested in paying for training and support services from companies such as Lynx.”
