MoJo Designs announces Linux port of Eyelet GUI

BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 14, 2000–MoJo Designs today announced that the company has ported Eyelet GUI to Linux, making it the smallest embedded GUI available for Linux today. The royal-free product is available immediately.

Eyelet GUI is totally independent of desktop interface conventions. Unlike much of the competition, Eyelet GUI is not restricted to a single processor, compiler or Real Time Operating System (RTOS).

Using Eyelet GUI, developers of small-footprint Linux will be able to add a graphical interface without having the substantial overhead of X Windows. Also, developers can use Eyelet GUI for both Linux and an RTOS, simplifying development.

“We developed this port in direct response to market demand,” explained Morgan Jones, president of MoJo Designs. “We believe development of embedded Linux products will skyrocket in the near future, meeting graphical demands in the communication, information-appliance and other burgeoning markets.”

Eyelet GUI Features & Benefits

Eyelet GUI helps developers improve product quality, reduce time to market and lower costs. Using this embedded GUI, developers can create an interface that leaves the look and feel of the desktop behind. The product, which has one of the smallest memory footprints in the industry, allows developers to easily develop interfaces without writing any code, speeding product development.

Rather than being a port of a desktop system, Eyelet GUI is one of the first products of its kind developed from the ground up to meet the rigorous demands of embedded systems. In addition to increased reliability, this means the user can maximize the product's interface without being bound by desktop conventions, such as menus and scroll bars. Additionally, because Eyelet GUI uses screen real estate efficiently, the final product can use a smaller screen for a given interface, reducing costs.

Eyelet GUI is also one of the most flexible products of its kind. Every element in the interface can be easily customized; every pixel is under the developer's control. The product includes a comprehensive GUI builder, the Windows-based Eyelet Architect, which allows users to develop and modify prototype interfaces without writing any code.

Applications

Although the product is appropriate for a wide range of embedded systems, Eyelet GUI is particularly well-suited for touch-screen applications such as medical devices, automotive-information systems and a host of consumer products including digital cameras, information appliances, cellular phones, microwave ovens and VCRs.
