MontaVista Software has appointed Italsoft S.R.L as its distributor in Italy, to serve growing regional demand. Italsoft will market, distribute, and provide front-line support for Montavista's entire range of products, including Professional Edition, Carrier Grade Edition, Consumer Electronics Edition, and MontaVista Graphics. It will also handle WebSphere Studio Device Developer, Qt/Embedded, and Qtopia through its partnership with MontaVista.

“The embedded market in Italy is seeking open standards solutions, and we see customers accelerating the migration of their software platforms from proprietary OSes to Linux,” said Claudio Beardo, managing director of Italsoft.

Italsoft was founded in 1996 and is based in Monza, near Milan. It also distributes Agilent hardware tools to customers in telecom, process control, medical systems, and consumer electronics.
