Dubbed “the Moose,” the kit includes uClinux, a small Motorola Coldfire-based single-board computer (SBC), sample applications, drivers, a carrier board with power supply and interface connectors, cables, a full uClinux development toolchain, and documentation.

The SBC provides up to 32MB onboard SDRAM and 8MB Flash memory, and its I/O resources include USB device and host controllers, 4 serial interfaces, temperature sensor, plus a separate 1Mbit configuration memory. The SBC's built-in capabilities can be expanded by means of add-on modules.

The carrier board (pictured at left) includes a slot for the SBC along with an Ethernet interface, 2 serial ports, 1 USB port, expansion interface, memory bus interface, power supply, battery charger circuit, realtime clock backup battery, and a diagnostic LED.

The Moose comes with a printed manual with sample applications, a porting guide, and source code on CDROM. An online support forum for developers using The Moose is also available.

The Moose is priced at € 350, but a special introductory price of € 250 is being offered for orders placed before March 21, 2003. Shipments will commence on April 1, 2003.
