Seoul, Korea — (press release excerpt) — Mizi Research Inc. today introduced LINUETTE V1.0, a specialized Linux OS which provides enhanced multimedia capabilities tailored to the requirements of high-end PDAs and handheld PCs.

LINUETTE provides both the Linux kernel and a windowing environment, and includes power management (within the Linux Kernel), Internet applications, a professional multimedia player, a second-to-none Personal Information Management (PIM) application suite, a Web browser that provides fully functional Web browsing, and an email client that supports POP3 and IMAP4 protocol. In addition, LINUETTE includes support for FM radio tuners, playing MPEG and MP3 files, and capabilities like e-album, a graphic image viewer, and a CCD camera.

Beginning with handheld PC/phones, PDA's with wireless communication capabilities will increasingly be introduced into the market. To meet these demands, LINUETTE provides enhanced communication capabilities which support diverse information appliance applications.

LINUETTE provides compatibility with both Linux and MS Windows platforms. For example, a handheld computer's Flash memory is recognized as an additional hard disk drive and, in addition, MS Outlook and Data Synchronization based on SyncML eliminates the need for Linux users to use Windows in order to synchronize handheld and desktop computer data.
